What You Will Need

  • Wood board/s for surface
  • Small trim piece, or lip
  • An E-frame (4 pieces of lumber)
  • Selleys Aquadhere Durabond
  • Selleys Liquid Nails Fast Grab
  • Wood panels and support pieces
  • A spirit level
  • Measuring tape
  • Stud finder
  • Soft marking pencil
  • Electric saw
  • Power drill
  • Mouse sander
  • Hammer and finishing nails
  • Assorted screws – some (at least) 12mm and 65mm screws
  • (Optional) Wood stain

Instructions

Step 1: Assemble E-frame

Screw the three lumber “arms” to the fourth base piece. Assemble them in the shape of an “E” – one on each end and then the centre. For extra stability, glue with Selleys Aquadhere Durabond

Step 2: Make your mark

Use your stud finder to locate two areas where the desk can be supported – one at the side and one at the back. Mark it out with a pencil and spirit level.

Step 3: Attach your supports

Place the E-frame against the wall and screw them in at the stud marks with screws that are at least 65mm in size. Fasten additional screws to the wall evenly along the frame.

Step 4: Assemble your surface

Place the desk surface panel/s on top of a plywood base to create one surface panel. If the fit is good, glue it in place. Use 12mm screws in the back of the plywood. Sand the surface and edges down.

Step 5: Install your desk

Place the desk surface on top of the E-frame and nail into place. Then secure the trim piece to the front of the desk with Selleys Liquid Nails Fast Grab.
